Can you help me get started?

Sure thing. There are lots of basic articles in our Introduction to Web Hosting Knowledge Base you can read. If you still have questions, leave us a message on our pre-sales contact form and we will help you with any thing that we left out.

I already have a domain name. Do I need to transfer it?

No. When you select a hosting plan to purchase, you will need to enter the domain and select the third option (I will update my name servers on an existing domain). After the account is created, you will need to edit the domain nameservers with the registrar to point to ns1.murhost.com(first) and ns2.murhost.com (second). All others can be lefft blank. Our Knowledge Base has information on editing the name servers for many registrars. If you can not find yours, contact us.

How much web space do you provide?

We have three plans to fit your needs. Our plans range from 500 MB space to 2 GB space with bandwidth transfers from 5-20 GB. This is more than enough space for an average small business. View our full features list here.

How many websites can be hosted with my account?

Our Small Business Light plan can have one website, one domain; Small Business Standard hosts up to five websites, and our Elite plan can host unlimited websites. View our full features list here.

How many email addresses can I have?

You can have between ten and Unlimited POP3 email accounts based on the plan. With CPanel, you can add and delete emails easily, assign and reset passwords, and add mail forwards and autoresponders. View our full features list here. Our Knowledge Base has information on setting up email addresses.

How can I check my email?

You can check your email on any email client and also on webmail. You can find information on setting up your favorite email client in our Knowledge Base. You can also check your email by going to www.murhost.com/webmail and login with your email address and password. You can either Horde, RoundCube, or SquirrelMail to check your email online. If you are logged into your CPanel, you can select the webmail icon in the email group.

How do I upload my website?

To upload a website to your server, you can use the file manager in CPanel, or you can use an FTP client. Our Knowledge Base has articles on configuring most FTP clients and an article on using the Filemanager

Are there any types of websites that can not be hosted on Murhost?

We do not allow hosting of any illegal material, adult content, fraudulent sites, spamming sites, filesharing sites are examples. The complete list of unacceptable sites can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

How can I contact Murhost?

Do your servers support php/MySQL?

Yes, our servers are running the latest version of php and MySQL. You have five MySQL databases with the Light plan, and Unlimited databases with the Elite plan.

What are your name servers?

Our first and second nameservers are ns1.murhost.com and ns2.murhost.com respectively. Our Knowledge Base has information on editing the name servers for many registrars.

Do you build websites?

Yes. Unlike most other web hosting companies, we are a sister company to Western Mountain Web Design and we offer great deals on profressional designs. We currently offer $400 for a custom five page website, or a 20% discount on larger, hourly jobs. We also offer 20% discount on any hourly web site maintenance you may need done.

Is it easy to set up a blog on my hosting plan?

Yes! All of our plans come equipped with QuickInstall and Fantastico De Luxe. These applications allow one-click installs of over 50 common programs including WordPress, Joomla, phpList, and more. These applications will also help you to update your software.
